THE POUILLY APPELLATION CELEBRATES 80 YEARS AND IS STILL GOING STRONG !
On Tuesday, in the splendid Cordeliers Convent in Beaune, the new generation of winemakers in Pouilly and Vergisson –a total of 28 – rose to a double challenge. That of showing that after 80 years of existence the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation is still a reference in Burgundy and that it also remains dynamic.
A few words about the AOC Pouilly-Fuissé :
From the summit of the Solutré Rock at 493 meters altitude, 200 million years of history look down on the wave of gold that is Pouilly-Fuissé in southern Burgundy, a stone’s throw from Mâcon. Four villages share the Pouilly-Fuissé appellation : Fuissé, Solutré-Pouilly, Vergisson and Chaintré. These vineyards produce a fine white wine full of charm and complexity that is one of the best expressions of Chardonnay in Burgundy.
